How to Read a 3V V Belt Number
A 3V belt number identifies the belt section and its outside length. The 3V identifies the belt section, while the numbers following 3V represent the outside length in tenths of an inch.
For example, 3V400 has an outside length of 40 inches. A 3V425 has an outside length of 42.5 inches, while a 3V1000 has an outside length of 100 inches.
Before ordering: Confirm that your existing belt is a 3V section belt and verify its outside length. Single groove 3V belts have an approximately 3/8 inch top width and 0.32 inch depth. Check the markings on your existing belt whenever possible to confirm the correct replacement size.

What Are the Dimensions of a 3V V Belt?
Single groove 3V V belts have an approximately 3/8 inch top width and 0.32 inch depth. The narrow profile allows 3V belts to transmit power in relatively compact drive arrangements.
How Do I Measure a 3V V Belt?
If the belt number is still readable, the outside length can be identified directly from the part number. For example, a belt marked 3V500 has an outside length of 50 inches.
If the markings are no longer readable, first check the belt profile and top width. Then measure around the outside circumference of the belt. The outside measurement corresponds with the numeric portion of the 3V part number. For example, an outside measurement of approximately 75 inches corresponds with a 3V750.
Single Groove vs Banded 3V Belts
This chart covers single groove 3V belts. A single 3V belt has one individual belt profile. Banded 3V belts combine multiple 3V ribs into one joined belt assembly and use a different part number format. When replacing a belt, confirm whether the drive uses an individual 3V belt or a banded assembly.
