What Is a CC Double Sided V Belt?
A CC Double Sided V Belt, sometimes called a CC hex belt, has V shaped driving surfaces on both sides. Unlike a conventional V belt, which is designed to engage pulleys on one side, a double sided V belt can transfer power through either side when used with a properly designed pulley arrangement.
This construction is especially useful when a single belt follows a winding path around several pulleys. The CC designation identifies the belt section, while the number that follows identifies the nominal belt size.
CC belts have a top width of 0.875 inches, or 7/8 inch. Their heavier construction makes them useful in industrial and agricultural applications that require a larger belt section.
For example, CC75 has a listed outside length of 81.4 inches, not 75 inches.
Outside Length vs. Belt Part Number
The number in a CC belt part number should not be mistaken for its outside circumference. For the CC sizes listed here, the outside length is 6.4 inches greater than the number in the SKU.
For example, CC100 has an outside length of 106.4 inches, CC150 has an outside length of 156.4 inches, and CC210 has an outside length of 216.4 inches.
CC Belt Outside Length Formula:
SKU Number + 6.4″ = Outside Length
Example: CC120 + 6.4″ = 126.4″ Outside Length
If you are replacing a worn belt, check the printed part number if it is still legible. If you are measuring the belt instead, confirm which length measurement you have and compare it with the equipment manufacturer’s specifications.
Outside length, inside length, and effective or datum length are different measurements and should not be used interchangeably.
Common Applications for CC Double Sided V Belts
CC Double Sided V Belts are used in agricultural machinery, industrial equipment, material handling systems, and other machinery that utilizes serpentine pulley arrangements.
Their two driving surfaces can be useful in mechanisms that require a single belt to drive multiple pulleys or accommodate different directions of rotation within the same drive system.
